Summer 1 -  To infinity and beyond

This half term we wrapping up on our topic To Infinity and Beyond and around halfway through the term we will be moving into our new Art driven topic Fruity Faces. We will be looking at the work of Guiseppe Arcimboldo and creating some fruit artwork of our own. 


Children this half term will be asked to write a rhyming calligram poem about an alien and also a Non Chronological report about healthy eating. 

These are the outcomes children are expected to meet this half term:

 > To be able to plan and talk about what they are writing about. 

> To be able to write, review and improve their writing.


> To be able to use capital letters and full stops correctly. 

> To be able to join sentences using conjunctions. 

> To be able to form all letters correctly in a cursive handwriting format. 

> To be able to use paragraphs.

> To be able to use titles and sub titles 

> To be able to use rhyming couplets.

> To be able to use adverbs, adjectives and verbs.




Children will be learning skills in time, measurement and statistics.

These are the outcomes children are expected to meet:

> To be able to recognise o clock, half past and quarter past the hour.

> To be able to label a 12 hour clock correctly.

> To know the difference between a short hand and long hand on a clock.

> To be able to measure with a ruler correctly in CM and MM

> To be able to read and interpret data from a block graph.

> To be able to add data to a block graph




These are the outcomes children are expected to meet:

> To be able to identify different forces.

> To be able to name all 8 planets in the Milky Way.

> To be able to identify natural and man made light.

> To explain the dangers of sunlight. 

> To understand night and day.

> To understand the Earth's movement around the sun.
